Marketplace note · Apify · 2026-09-12
Apify retires rental pricing on 1 October. Both our Actors price per event.
Apify's rental documentation gives two dates: "April 1, 2026: You can no longer publish new rental Actors or change pricing on existing ones," and "October 1, 2026: Rental Actors are fully retired. All remaining Actors are migrated to pay-per-usage pricing."
Apify's blog post of 14 April 2026, Why Apify is standardizing Actor pricing, gives the reason: 73% of its customers said they preferred the pay-per-event model over fixed rentals, and 2,000 Actors had already been migrated from pay-per-result to pay-per-event.
What it changes for a new Actor
Rental charged the buyer for access; pay-per-event charges for output. A listing therefore has to prove, before it charges, that each event it emits is worth its price — which is why our listing gate refuses to mark an Actor ready until the Console pricing for every event is entered, and why both GTM Solutions Actors price per event from the first run.
What it changes for existing Actors
Any Actor still on rental with no pay-per-event price on 1 October moves to pay-per-usage and its developer stops earning. The Atlas snapshot of the Store will show how many listings that touches when the Monday after the deadline arrives.
